Claude Code writes your project into a folder on your computer; for anyone to open it, it has to be put on a server. Ai to App takes care of this last step: Claude Code prepares the zip file, you upload it, and your project goes live at your-project.aitoapp.com. No credit card is required on the Free plan.
The Message to Write to Claude Code
Open Claude Code in the project folder and write this:
Read the guide at https://aitoapp.com/upload-guide. Get my project ready for Ai to App by following it, go through the checklist item by item and prepare the zip file.
Claude Code may ask your permission to read a web page and to run commands. For this job you need to allow both; that is the only way it can read the guide and prepare the zip.
What It Takes Care of for You
- It determines your project's type. For built sites such as React or Vite, it runs the build and zips only the inside of the output folder.
- In a server application, it makes the app read the port from the
PORTvariable, binds the server to the address0.0.0.0and writes the production start command. - It removes passwords and keys from the code.
.envfiles andnode_modulesdo not go into the zip. - It makes the app read the database connection from the variable Ai to App provides; Ai to App sets up the database.
- When it is done, it tells you where the zip is and the names of the variables you need to enter in the dashboard.
When the Zip Is Ready
- Drop the zip file into the box on the home page. The pre-check runs without an account.
- Create your free account, choose your address and publish.
- If Claude Code listed any environment variables, open My Apps, press Environment Variables on the app card, enter the values and choose Save and Republish.
If a Problem Comes Up
Ai to App explains the problem in plain language. Paste that text into the same Claude Code session; you don't need to explain the project again. Then upload the new zip.
| What You See | The Reason |
|---|---|
The server binds only to localhost | A setting that works on your computer does not work once published; the server must listen on the address 0.0.0.0. |
start runs the development server | Commands such as vite or nodemon are not for publishing; start must start the production server. |
| Files uploaded by visitors disappear with a new version | The only persistent folder is /data; files must be written there. |
The site sends requests to /api/... | A static site has no server behind it; the project must be a single server application together with its API. |
Later Versions
Have Claude Code make the change, then upload the new zip from the same app's card. Your address stays the same and the data in the database is preserved.
All the rules are on the Upload Guide page, and the plan limits are on the Pricing page.
