The project you wrote in Cursor is already on your computer. You do not need to set up a server to put it on the internet: Cursor's Agent prepares your project as a zip file, and you upload it to Ai to App. Websites go live within seconds, and server applications with their databases within minutes.
The Message to Write to Agent
Open your project in Cursor and write this in the Agent window:
Read the guide at https://aitoapp.com/upload-guide. Get my project ready for Ai to App by following it, go through the checklist item by item and prepare the zip file.
Agent may ask for approval before running a command; Cursor's Run Mode setting decides when it asks. If it cannot read the address, download the guide from the home page, put it in the project folder and add it to the message with @.
So You Do Not Have to Explain It Every Time
If you will update the project often, make the guide address a Cursor rule. A rule you add to the .cursor/rules folder also applies in later chats; Agent follows Ai to App's rules from the start and there are fewer fixes left for the end.
What Goes in the Zip for Your Project
| Your Project | What Goes in the Zip |
|---|---|
| Plain HTML, CSS, JS | The files themselves |
| React, Vue, Vite, Astro | The inside of the dist folder after the build |
| Next.js | Source code; it is built on the server |
| Node.js servers such as Express, Fastify | Source code and the lock file |
| Python, .NET | Source code |
Choosing the right folder is Agent's job; this table only shows what to expect.
How to Find the Zip
Agent writes where the zip is. If the file is in Cursor's file tree, right-click it and choose "Reveal in File Explorer" (on a Mac, "Reveal in Finder"), then drag the file into the box on the home page. If the zip is over 50 MB, node_modules is still inside it; tell Agent to remove it.
After Publishing
- Environment variables: For the variables Agent listed, open My Apps, press Environment Variables on the app card, enter the values and choose Save and Republish. Do not put the values in the zip;
.envfiles are not published. Only public values with theVITE_,NEXT_PUBLIC_,PUBLIC_,REACT_APP_prefixes are passed to the build. - If an error comes up: Paste the error text from Ai to App into Agent and upload the new zip.
- Updating: Upload the new zip from the same app's card; your address stays the same and the data in the database is preserved.
All the rules are on the Upload Guide page, and the plan limits are on the Pricing page.
